Individual Therapy FAQ's
Q: What should I expect in my first session?
A: The first session is a traditional therapy intake session. Dr. Grad will ask. you about your concerns and goals for therapy. You will also be asked to share about your history. Then Dr. Grad will give you information about the therapy process, suggest a course of action, and give you time to ask questions and address concerns. The session typically lasts about 50-60 minutes.
Q: How long does therapy usually take?
A: While this can vary greatly from person to person, we aim to see significant results within 4-6 months of initiating therapy. Some things that can impact this are severity of symptoms, number of problems to address, and number and type of stressors present.
Q: What types of therapy are available?
A: At Playa Vida Therapy, we provide a variety of types of therapy that are tailored to the individual’s needs. Dr. Grad has training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) among others. She also has extensive experience and training in trauma focused therapies such as Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Written Exposure Therapy.
